Newstead Abbey Park comprises of over 300 acres of land with numerous themed gardens and many other interesting focal points including the west front of the abbey.


The park is a popular visitor attraction, especially during summer weekends and school holidays, but is considerably less busy during its off peak periods. The grounds, although open to paying members of the public during the day, are gated at night offering additional security and peace of mind.


Newstead Abbey is a sought after wedding location due to its beautiful surroundings and excellent facilities. Its gardens are a fantastic location for wedding photographs.


It is home to an array of wildlife including graceful swans on the main lake and the famous exotic peacocks which roam around the grounds and often wander into the gardens of the surrounding residences.

It is also host to a number of international visitors who are interested in the rich and colourful history of Lord Byron which can be explored by taking a tour round the abbey itself. Here a number of Byron artifacts are displayed along with personal correspondence and examples of his work. Within the abbey there is also a coffee shop and a seasonal gift shop.

The west front of the abbey is visible by opening the second floor hall window at Byron Studios and through the archway in the court.
